A Gorgeous Victorian Papered Ceiling

This ceiling in the Hench House in York, PA is papered with Bradbury & Bradbury’s The Anglo-Japanese Roomset papers from their Aesthetic Movement collection. It was installed by Jim and Jean Leaman, who rescued the endangered Queen Anne house from demolition.

Bradbury & Bradbury was established in 1979 to produce hand-printed Victorian wall and ceiling papers. In the decades since, the line has expanded to include papers up to the Mid-Century Modern period. Hench House, now operated as the Lady Linden bed and breakfast, is one of 13 featured houses presented between the how-to chapters of Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners. Bradbury & Bradbury generously provided photos of their production process for the book.

The 720-page hardcover volume is now in stores and available from online retailers. Signed copies are available directly from the author on this site.

Your local bookstore can order copies from their W.W. Norton rep.
