Head Tide Homestead. The Rev. Jeremiah Jewett House is located overlooking the Sheepscot River in Head Tide, Maine. It is a Federal style house with a long attached carriage shed. The Greek Revival style door surround is likely an alteration from the mid-19th century.

Head Tide is a historic mill village that retains more than a dozen period homes, shops, and an 1838 church, surrounding the site of a dam that powered grist, carding, and wood-working mills for almost two centuries. Floods and fires removed all the wood mill buildings before 1950, leaving a beautiful and peaceful village tucked away in a quiet corner of Lincoln County.

Federal is one of 25 styles and types illustrated and described in Chapter 2 of “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

Understanding the style of a house is the first step in planning a rehab/restoration project that retains its historic character.

Signed and personalized copies of the award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book are available directly from the author in our shop, YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.
