West Virginia Tudor Revival

Spotted on my road trip last September… A sweet Tudor Revival style house of the 1920s in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Tudor Revival was a popular romantic style for homes in the early 20th century, from small “storybook” kit-house cottages to the grand architect-designed mansions that led the style to be nicknamed “Stockbroker Tudor.” These wonderful houses survive in all sizes from Maine to California.

Understanding the style, or styles, of a house will help you identify which features are character-defining so you can prioritize their preservation.

Tudor Revival is one of 25 historic architectural styles described and illustrated in Chapter 2 of Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

Signed and personalized copies of the award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book are available from the author in our shop, YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.

Our shop also carries select preservation and restoration titles by other authors including the classic “A Field Guide to American Houses.” Save with our multi-book combo packs!
