The 250-acre historic district contains more than 850 buildings, most constructed between 1870 and 1910. The development of this remarkable neighborhood led to Springfield being nicknamed “The City of Homes” in the 19th century.
Queen Anne Style houses often combine a variety of wood siding materials, as in this house. Character-defining features of the style seen here are the complex roof form, multiple porches, patterned shingle siding, varied window sizes and shapes, and projecting bay windows.
