A New “Victorian” Bathroom

This “Victorian” bathroom is new and is the most recent project at Dow Farm, one of the 13 featured houses in Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners. The marble sink top, faucets, toilet and toilet slate are antique, the cherry cabinetry, beadboard walls and ceiling, and floor are new. Note the unfinished upper shutter panels sitting on the floor under the window, waiting to be installed.

Designing new bathrooms for historic houses is covered in Chapter 3 of the book! Most new bathrooms in historic houses look to the past for design inspiration although few go to this extent – but it can be done! A modern shower stall is tucked into an alcove behind the photographer in this bathroom.

Restoring Your Historic House is now at the printer and will be available in November. It can be pre-ordered on Barnes & Noble and Amazon now for delivery as soon as it is in stock. Pre-order your copy today!
