Romantic Tudor Revival

Romantic Tudor Revival Gatehouse at Acadia National Park

The Tudor Revival style looked toward the England of Queen Elizabeth I for inspiration in houses that tended toward elements of asymmetry in form. These ranged from “storybook” cottages to grand mansions, with the former a popular option in mail-order kit house catalogs in the early twentieth century.

Tudor Revival is one of 25 styles described and illustrated with multiple examples in Chapter 2 of Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners – now available for pre-order!
