These two photos came across my feed this morning and so perfectly illustrate what is possible in restoring historic homes that I am passing them along to followers of Restoring Your Historic House.
The house is Selma Mansion, in Leesburg, VA, a 1902 Colonial Revival style house on a former plantation. It served as a home for several generations and then as a commercial event facility, hosting weddings, etc., before becoming vacant and neglected. After several decades of abandonment, it has recently been beautifully restored by a couple as their home. More information about the house, the owners, and the restoration can be found at Selma Mansion Rebirthhttps://www.facebook.com/SelmaMansionRebirth2/.
Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners, is filled with information to help historic house lovers restore their homes. Now available, it is a 720-page, hardcover volume containing more than 2,000 photos and drawings. It can be found in bookstores nationwide and through online retailers. Signed copies can be ordered directly from the author at yourhistorichouse.com.
