Victorian Parquet Floor

The Victorians loved elaborate patterns, on fabric, wallpaper, carpet, tile, or in wood flooring. This parquet floor, constructed of hundreds of individual pieces of three different hardwoods, dates to the 1880’s. It is located in the Smith House, one of 13 featured houses presented between the how-to chapters of Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.

Flooring in historic houses is covered in detail in Chapter 14 of Restoring Your Historic House. The 720-page best selling hardcover book is available in bookstores and from online retailers (it is currently 31% off on Amazon! http://ow.ly/N7ba50y4PSL).

Signed and personalized copies are available directly from the author on this site.

Your local bookstore can order copies from W.W. Norton.
