Scott Hanson, award-winning author, presents an illustrated talk about how to restore your historic house in a way that preserves its most important features and makes it livable for the 21st century.
The author of the best-selling book, “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners,” will introduce the book’s concepts and share examples, photos and how-to illustrations to inspire and guide you in your own home renovation and restoration efforts.
A live question and answer period will follow.
Scott T. Hanson of Topsham, Maine, has thought deeply about the renovation of historic homes in his forty years as a designer, carpenter, municipal historic district regulator, historic preservation consultant, and architectural historian. His own fifteen-year renovation of a historic house, doing much of the work himself, has allowed him to put his ideas to the test and to learn from his mistakes. Scott is a Senior Associate with the Boston office of MacRostie Historic Advisors.
