New “Victorian” Bathroom

Recent progress in the nearly completed new “Victorian” bathroom at Dow Farm is the tiled splash guard and shelf, made of cherry to match the custom tin tub surround and other new cabinetry in the room. The tiles are reproduction.

The bathroom incorporates a salvaged antique marble sink top and china bowl, faucets, tin tub, high-tank toilet, and toilet slate . The cherry cabinetry, beadboard walls and ceiling, and floor are new, milled in the woodshop at the farm. A modern stall shower is tucked into an alcove in one corner of the room.

Dow Farm is one of the 13 featured houses in “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

Designing new bathrooms for historic houses is covered in Chapter 3 of the book! Most new bathrooms in historic houses look to the past for design inspiration. Few go to this extent – but it can be done!

“Restoring Your Historic House” is a 720 page award-winning and best-selling hardcover book now available in bookstores nationwide and from online retailers.

Signed copies are available directly from the author in our shop, https://yourhistorichouse.com/shop/.
