The American Foursquare may be the most common historic house type in the nation. Available in kit form and site-built by the tens of thousands between c. 1900 and c. 1930, they can be found from California to Maine, where this example is located. While their details can draw from a variety of styles, their essential form is a cube with a pyramidal roof. The c. 1913 example shown has Queen Anne detailing and an attached Foursquare carriage house.
