A Facebook Memory for Today

Facebook Memories reminded me this morning that the final cover proof for “Homes Down East” arrived seven years ago today. This was the first book I did with Tilbury House Publishing, co-written with Maine State Historian Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr., and architect Christopher Glass. Dave Clough did the contemporary photos of the houses in the book.

The house is the Charles Homer (brother of Winslow) Cottage in Prouts Neck, ME.

Following the publication of Homes Down East, the publisher asked if I had any other book ideas we might pursue together, which was the beginning of “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.” Dave Clough joined that project as well and shot the 13 restored houses that are featured between the how-to chapters.

It took four-and-a-half years to get the book written and put together with more than 2,000 photos and drawings for release in December 2019.

Both books are available in bookstores nationwide and from online retailers.

Signed and personalized copies are only available in our shop, https://yourhistorichouse.com/shop/.
