Last evening, I had the pleasure of speaking with the 30 participants in the Montgomery Landmarks Foundation Preservation Leadership Seminar on Zoom.
The Preservation Leadership Seminar is a six-week program offered by Landmarks Foundation to familiarize the citizens of Montgomery, Alabama with its rich architectural heritage and the importance of preserving the City’s built environment.
The group is using “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners” as the reference book for the program.
This program is a great example of the important work being done to educate and assist historic house owners by local and state-wide preservation advocacy non-profit organizations. Check out your local preservation organization and join in their efforts!
It has been really gratifying to see “Restoring Your Historic House” embraced by the preservation community. In addition to its use for programs like the Preservation Leadership Seminar, t is now being used in as a college textbook.
