19th Century Newel Volute

An exuberant 19th century newel volute swirl with grain painting. This wonderful architectural detail is in the Record Farm, one of the 13 Featured Houses captured by noted architectural photographer David Clough and presented between the how-to chapters of “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

The restoration of Record Farm has been an on-going process for owners Dave and Pat Ledlie for more than 30 years. The beautiful faux graining on this handrail is Dave’s work.

The Ezekiel and Mariam Record Farm is located in Buckfield, Maine. It is now on the market for the first time since 1977. The listing can be found at https://www.duboisrealtygroup.net/…/8-b…/bid-174-1534019.

In addition to being one of 13 featured homes in “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners,” Record Farm is the preservation easement example described in the book. Many photos of the house can be found in the book including historic images and “before” and “during” restoration shots.

The award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book is available in bookstores and from online retailers. Signed copies are available directly from the author in our shop, YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.

Our shop also carries select preservation and restoration titles by other authors. Save on cost and shipping with our multi-book combo packs!
