Beautiful Owego, NY Queen Anne. This gorgeous Queen Anne style house in Owego, New York has one of my all-time-favorite porches. I had a wonderful chat with the owners last year while walking around the historic district photographing houses. Note the colored glass in the skirting under the porch. The owners have added subtle lighting under the porch to show off the colors at night.
The most “Victorian” of the Victorian era styles, Queen Anne was used for houses ranging from cottages to substantial houses like this one and even larger mansions. Common elements include mixed clapboard and patterned shingle siding, varied window sizes, wrap-around porches, and elaborate wood ornament.
Queen Anne is one of the 25 styles and types described and illustrated in Chapter 2 of “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”
