Restore or Replace Your Windows?

Often, your old neglected and deteriorated wood windows can be restored and made as good as the day they were new and be as efficient as new replacement windows when paired with a storm sash. Historic wood windows were made to be repairable – unlike modern windows. With maintenance, these windows can last another century or more. Replacement windows would be good for 30 years and then have to be replaced again.

And most window restoration firms are local companies that employ local residents, keeping your hard-earned money in the community. Explore options for restoring your windows before buying the sales pitch for new ones.

You can find a nationwide directory of window restorers on the Window Preservation Association’s website: https://windowpreservationalliance.org/

I am honored to be the keynote speaker at WPA’s annual conference here in Maine later this week. The conference is open to anyone involved in the preservation field. AIA credits are available.
