Spectacular Queen Anne Porch

A spectacular Queen Anne style porch of the Victorian era located in Owego, New York.

Original porches are always character-defining features of a historic house and often are found in poor condition due to their exposed locations. Preserving these features, or restoring them if lost, is key to maintaining or restoring the historic character of a house.

This is one of my all-time favorite porches. I had a wonderful chat with the owners while walking around the Owego historic district to photograph houses. Note the colored glass in the skirting under the porch. The owners have added subtle lighting under the porch to show off the colors at night.

The repair and/or restoration of porches is covered in “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

Signed and personalized copies of the award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book are only available in our shop, YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.

Our shop also carries select preservation and restoration titles by other authors. Save on cost and shipping with our multi-book combo packs!
