Festive sugared fruit centerpiece for the holidays.

Sugared fruit centerpieces were quite popular during the 19th century for those who could afford the luxuries of imported fruit in winter and white granulated sugar to coat it with. It was decorative and helped to preserve the fruit longer.

This Victorian Christmas tradition is revived annually for our holiday open house, holding pride of place at the center of the table in the restored 1827 kitchen of Whitten House.

The restoration of this room, including the reconstruction of the functional cooking hearth and brick oven, is an example project in “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”

Signed and personalized copies of the award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book are available from the author in our shop, YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.

Our shop also carries select preservation and restoration titles by other authors. Save with our multi-book combo packs!
