Fresh Content Alert! First Road Trip of 2025!
I am headed to the Society for Historical Archaeology conference in New Orleans next week, and then a visit with the fabulous Laine and Kevin Berry of Our Restoration Nation and other friends in Natchez, MS.
My approximate route is shown on the map. I’ll be going south through Charlotte, Atlanta and Mobile then returning through Birmingham, Chattanooga, and Roanoke (weather permitting).
My hope is to find a wide variety of house styles and periods along the way to fill my photo files for future daily posts. Many of you live in or have visited the areas I will pass through. I would love to tap into this group’s knowledge of where to find great houses.
Houses in concentrated districts where I can walk around and photograph many houses in a short time are ideal, but exceptional isolated homes can be worth a stop too. So, what are the best historic districts and houses along my route?
