A Queen Anne style double-House in Rockland, Maine. Side-by-side houses with a shared party wall and mirror image plans have a variety of regional names. Depending on where they are, they might be called a double-house, duplex, twin, or another name.
They are most often symmetrical in design but occasionally have variations from one side to the other. Although sharing a party wall and appearing as a single building, they typically are on separate lots and owned by two parties.
They can be found in virtually any style but were particularly popular during the Victorian era. This lovely double-house is in the Queen Anne style and was likely built in the 1890s.
