From my recent road trip, The Pillow-Thompson House in Helena, Arkansas, was designed by prolific Knoxville, Tennessee architect George F. Barber and built in 1896. Like much of Barber’s work, the house is an over-the-top expression of the Queen Anne style.
The complex form, wraparound porch, overhanging gables, ornamented eaves, spindle work, round turret, turned porch columns and elaborate balustrades are all common features of the Queen Anne style – though not often assembled as profusely as here. The house is available for events, meetings, and tours.
