This delightful cottage in St. Francisville, Louisiana, was built c. 1880 in the Queen Anne style. It has the deep inset porch and tall windows typical of earlier Acadian, or Cajun, houses in Louisiana. These porches create outdoor living spaces covered by the primary roof.
The turned and scroll-sawn trim work on the porch is typical of Queen Anne style elements that can be found on houses of the period in all parts of the U.S.
Queen Anne is among the 25 architectural styles and types described and illustrated in Chapter 2 of “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.”
