This Week’s Puzzle ~ Robie House at the Golden Hour

The best way to learn about historic houses is to look at them closely, and the most fun way to look at them closely is to do a puzzle showing a wonderful historic house! So, we made a unique and interesting collection of Historic House Puzzles for you to enjoy!

Robie House at the Golden Hour

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie style Frederick C. Robie House in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood was completed in 1910. It is among Wright’s most famous and recognized works and is a National Historic Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was one of the first Modernist buildings to be saved from demolition by preservationists, twice, in 1941 and again in 1957.

The Robie House was highly influential, helping to popularize Modernist design features such as picture windows, cantilever roofs, and attached garages in residential architecture. Like Fallingwater, Wright’s other masterpiece, built nearly thirty years later, Robie House was extensively published in architectural journals and popular publications at the time of its construction.

Today, the house is operated by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust as a museum house and is open for tours. cal.flwright.org/tour
