Stick Style and Italianate together in one house.
This beautifully restored house in Brunswick, Maine, is Stick Style in the gables and Italianate below the frieze line. Many historic houses feature elements of more than one architectural style. Sometimes this is evidence of alterations made after the house was built and sometimes the mixed features date from the original construction.
This house was built by a Victorian era contractor for his own home and he may have been showing off his ability to work in both popular styles.
