Restored Queen Anne style trim. The wonderful ornamental trim in this detail shot is on an 1887 Queen Anne style home that was rescued from demolition and restored by a couple who lived nearby and just couldn’t let it be destroyed. They purchased it and spent three years on an extensive restoration, including the return of a period color scheme to the exterior. Note the dark red inside the cutout areas on the yellow bracket!
Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners includes information on restoring or replicating exterior trim and identifying and replicating historic paint schemes. The book will be released on December 10th and is available for pre-order on the Barnes & Noble, Target, Powell’s Books, and Walmart websites and on Amazon. If you would like your local bookstore to carry the book, please ask them to contact their rep at W.W. Norton to order it.
