Wonderful Tudor Revival House

The Tudor Revival style of the early 20th century looked toward the England of Queen Elizabeth I for inspiration. These ranged from “storybook” cottages to grand mansions, with the former a popular option in mail-order kit house catalogs in the early twentieth century.

Tudor Revival is one of 25 styles described and illustrated with multiple examples in Chapter 2 of Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners. Understanding the style, or styles, of a house will help you identify which features are character-defining so you can prioritize their preservation.

The 720-page hardcover book is now available in bookstores and from online retailers.

Signed copies are available directly from the author on this site.

Your local bookstore can order copies from W.W. Norton.
