Before & After ~ The Warren F. Pope House

Before & After ~ The Warren F. Pope House, c. 1897, East Machias, Maine.

This shingle-style home was designed by Maine’s most famous architect, John Calvin Stevens, and is the only building by Stevens in Washington County. This region of Down East Maine extends from above Acadia National Park to New Brunswick and is aptly called the Bold Coast.

The lovely house was largely intact but in neglected condition when purchased by Skip and Scot in 2016. They restored the missing porches and repaired the interior to bring back its original charm. After enjoying the restored house for several years, they discovered another great historic house in need of saving up the coast in Eastport – so this one is on the market!
