The best way to learn about historic houses is to look at them closely, and the most fun way to look at them closely is to do a puzzle showing a wonderful historic house! So, we made a unique and interesting collection of Historic House Puzzles for you to enjoy! (Scroll down to puzzle)

At left is my home, Whitten House, in mid-coast Maine on a cold full-moon December night. Historic homes have provided shelter from the elements to generations before us. They have represented safety and warmth through good times and bad. There is comfort in knowing these structures have survived and endured, protecting their inhabitants from generation to generation.
A sense of connection to the past is important for many of us attracted to old houses. Knowing Whitten House has provided shelter since 1827 gives me that sense of connection, and safety. That said, I don’t want to heat it with open fireplaces as the Whittens did in 1827. The house is now well insulated and has a modern radiant heating system that is both invisible and efficient.
Energy efficiency, HVAC systems, and related issues are explored in depth in “Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.” Installation of the radiant heating system in Whitten House is an example project in the book.
Signed and personalized copies of the award-winning and bestselling 720-page hardcover book are available from the author in our online bookshop at YourHistoricHouse.com/shop/.
